Project

K&S Wire Products is a producer of formed and welded wire products in Neosho.

Their efforts in being good stewards to the environment extend to their packaging processes, paint line chemicals, furnace heat recovery system and their electric use.

Ozark Energy Services designed and implemented a lighting project that reduced their utility expense by nearly $9,000 annually at the time of implementation. Not only was the project economical using the rates at the time—it also provided them with a hedge against the recent rate increase.

The carbon emissions abated as a result of the project is the equivalent of planting 25 acres of forest or taking 40 cars off the road.

The manufacturing, warehousing and shipping areas were upgraded from 455-Watt Metal Halide lighting to T8 linear fluorescent fixtures; reducing power consumption by 50% while maintaining light levels. Due to the fixture density and ceiling height, an eight-foot fixture was selected that nearly eliminated shadows on the work plane. Offices light fixtures were also upgraded to T8, reducing power consumption by over 50%.

Ozark Energy Services handled the rebate application and energy calculations that resulted in a $20,000 rebate through The Empire District Electric Company!
